mid-century in the bush

Sited on a series of sandstone outcrops, this revitalised home connects with the surrounding Lane Cove bushland. The brief was to expand and enrich an existing 60s mid-century home for a growing family and provide enlarged north-facing living spaces as well as a strong vertical circulation to the bottom of the site for use as a kids rumpus and outdoor living. Bedrooms were located on the upper level to take advantage of bushland views and eastern light, while a separate working studio was added with independent access from the street.
